frozen octopus

Went to ShimoKitazawa to rehearse today. It's super hot out so everyone is kinda moving slow, sweating a lot, and there was a lot of people with hand fans. It's "type about how hot it is" hot outside right now.

Took a rare trip to Odiaba today to hang out with friends and check out the ocean at sunset. We always used to bring guests there when they visited Japan but stopped going because it's a bit more work to get there. There's an extra transfer that makes less of a choice than other areas.

It's a lot more built up now which Ives told was because of the olympics. Got to see the giant life-sized Gundam finally. Pretty cool in real life.

Spending this summer updating old websites in between real tasks. I really love simple, light sites as a breather from them grind of the larger database sites.

Two of the artists on today's music list are names I've heard my whole life. Yet, I've never heard a whole album by them before.

Made me think of all the other artists I know the names of but have never actually listened to. Part of me knows you can't possibly listen to everything but it does make me think twice when I re-listen to something I've heard before.

What should I listen to next is a choice between expanding horizons or diving deeper. Should you listen to something new or should you listen to something again and figure it out more.

Summer without festivals is strange. When all this virus business calms down, I am going to not take them for granted.

Got to the end of the letter E today. Brian Eno's "Here Come the Warm Jets" always melts my mind. I try to not listen to this one too much too. Another one I don't want to wear the treads out on.

Virus numbers skyrocketing. Band rehearsal is cancelled tomorrow.

Of course I know what Duke Ellington sounds like but it had a lot more vibe to it that I thought it was going to have. I think it's the recording quality of that time that I dig.

Stoked to listen to Psychocandy today. It's an album so dear to me that I try to not listen to it so I don't wear it out.

Every thing was soaked outside today after the storm that rolled through. Super cool out too which was awesome after the heatwave the last couple weeks.

I totally had plans to do some Tanabata stuff today. All the news from America is such a bummer lately so I don't really have the fun summer vibes right now.

Got to say thanks to the tropical storm that just passed by. It totally got rid of the awful air that was lingering here.

All the gun violence news coming from the US is really disheartening. the numbers of deaths from guns is mind blowing. It's the numbers you'd see in a small war.

Had a great rehearsal today. There was one song I couldn't figure out the right beat for. Got that one sorted out. From now until recording, it's all fine tuning now.
