Open Folders, Sort or Process

I have an Apple Shortcut that is called Open Folders. It is simple (see below). It gets run each morning. It's job is to open folders. Tons of folders. All the folders for every context of my life I have set up. Each context folder in iCloud, Dropbox, external hard drives, Downloads, Documents...everywhere. It opens an obnoxious amount of Finder windows but I run it daily.

It forces me to go through each area one by one and get everything either stored in the right spot or I make a task to process the file. I ask my self "what is it?" and "where does it live?". It either gets moved to the correct spot or it goes into the 2do app.

Is it fun? No.

Is there a lot of looking at folders that don't need looking at? Yes.

Does it help? Yes.

At first it was brutal when I started. Over time things got under control. The reason being once a folder is open and there is nothing to do in it, I want to go into a sub-folder and process since I am already there. Do this five days a week, 52 weeks a year.

In my mind, I envision it like a stream. All the little files are sticks and rocks that, combined together, slow the flow. If I can get things sorted into the correct spot and write self-tasks while doing it then the stream starts flowing faster.

Script

tell application "Finder"

open POSIX file ""

open POSIX file ""

open POSIX file ""

end tell

Replace "folder-path" with the path to your folder. Just keep adding the open POSIX with other folders. Add it to a Run AppleScript action in an Apple Shortcut.
