It has been raining for 34 days in a row. No end in sight with more rain for the next week straight. It's raining so much that I need to document it here to remember it next year.

Japan has been caught in a weird weather pattern where a line of pressure that usually shifts north and south is stuck over the country. If I understand what is happening correctly, typhoons that would normally travel quickly across the country are hitting and following the line of pressure.

A rise in the number of typhoons plus that line of pressure not shifting is soaking the country. There have been so many floods and landslide alerts. So constantly seeing people wading around in knee-deep water and getting pinged about potential weather events for a month is affecting the overall mental health here. You worry each storm if your neighborhood is next to flood.

If you make plans, there is an extra level of difficulty. Is your train even going to be running? Will you get stuck somewhere if you are there? The transit system is constantly having to deal with the weather so it must be tough on them.

I saw a report on the news that this many days of rain in a row is also causing both physical and mental effects on the population. It's supposed to be hot and sunny and it's not. It bums you out. People are reporting low energy due to people getting less Vitamin D and not being able to be out and about.

Also there has been a spike in people reporting weird headaches which they think is due to it being cold and rainy then suddenly getting hot and humid for a hours in a loop. Add to that a spike in influenza and it's dragging on people. When I ride the train, it's a constant chorus of coughing and sneezing.

My personal battle with the constant rain is sound. The rain is constantly battling with albums I am trying to listen to. It is like having a white noise machine on non-stop for weeks on end. It's soothing when you are in the mood for it and annoying when you are trying to listen to something subtle. Like living next to a waterfall.
