In honor of "In C" day, which is November 4th, I recorded two versions of it. One was using drum samples of my kit and the other was using the vibraphone kit in Logic Pro. Very fun sight reading the piece which I haven't done in a long time.

I also learned a few things from the experience.

First is this is a group piece for sure. One person playing it sounds really empty/uninteresting. When I put the two attempts together, it started to sound more engaging. So If I want to do this next year, it really should be in a large group of people.

Second is it was a lot harder to record a 30-minute song than I thought it would be. With the default settings in Logic Pro, the app kept wanting to limit the song to about five minutes. I had to go into settings and up the I/O Buffer Size to get it to let me record longer. Live and learn.

Third, I really liked the "switch whenever" vibe of the piece. I want to try it somehow with 1000s of cats. It's got me trying to figure out how to do it with a two piece punk/indie band.

I put this date on my calendar for next year.
